xBloom Studio Review: Thoughs after one month of testing

Is the xBloom Studio as good as it looks?

As a passionate coffee enthusiast, I’m always on the lookout for innovative brewing gadgets to enhance my daily cup. After spending a few weeks with the xBloom Studio, I can confidently say this device brings a fresh approach to home brewing. Whether you’re a seasoned coffee connoisseur or just someone who enjoys a quality brew, the xBloom Studio has plenty to offer.

First Impressions

Right out the box, it’s clear that the xBloom Studio is a sleek, modern machine that blends style with functionality. Setting it up was a breeze, even for those who aren’t particularly tech-savvy. There are literally no parts to connect and once I had paired it with the app, the machine was ready to brew.

Included in the package were about 30 filters (used for brewing with your own beans) and an RFID card. This card can be configured to specific parameters for a style of coffee, offering a futuristic glimpse into the evolution of home coffee brewing.

Brewing Experience

As a coffee lover, the xBloom Studio consistently delivered cups that rival my favorite cafés  balancing flavor and complexity. Its precise pouring mechanism truly mimics the craftsmanship of a skilled barista.

For me, I mostly drink iced pour-over coffee, and the xBloom is great at doing this. Its advanced customization options allowed me to fine-tune grind size, water temperature, pouring style, and more, resulting in beautifully extracted, refreshing iced coffee. In some cases, it even outperformed my trusted Pulsar brewer.

You can buy coffee pods for the device, to be honest I wouldn’t bother. I brewed with a variety of my favorite beans, and the results were phenomenal.

The app is super powerful

The App: Power and Complexity

I found the xBloom app to be an amazingly powerful tool for coffee customization. It allows users to adjust everything from grind size and water temperature to pour styles and agitation. While coffee fanatics like me will love diving into these details, I would say that beginners might find it a bit overwhelming. Simplifying the interface for basic adjustments would enhance the user experience.

Design and Ease of Use

The xBloom Studio is not only functional but also mesmerizing to watch. Its brewing process feels like a performance, making it enjoyable to use. It operates quietly, cleans easily, and feels well-built.

The thoughtful design made setup a breeze, with features like a stabilizer for single-person assembly. It’s also fast, brewing cups significantly quicker than manual methods without sacrificing quality. The whole thing has the feel of a premium Apple product

Potential Drawbacks

While the xBloom Studio is impressive, it does have some areas for improvement:

  • Cost of Pods: At $1.60 to $3 per pod, the xPods might not fit every budget.
  • App Learning Curve: The app’s advanced features may overwhelm casual users.
  • Inconsistencies: Occasionally, uneven bean distribution in the grinder affected the brew quality.
  • Initial Glitches: Early firmware bugs and a cracked dripper arm were resolved but are worth noting for potential buyers.
  • Scratching: I did find that the finish wasn't that resistant to scratches, and it does get easily smudged.

It does just look stunning

Final Thoughts

The xBloom Studio is a groundbreaking coffee maker that combines the art of pour-over with cutting-edge technology. It’s perfect for those who want café-quality coffee at home, whether they prefer the simplicity of pre-programmed xPods or the flexibility of customizing their brews.

While it won’t completely replace the expertise of a skilled barista, it comes surprisingly close. Its sleek design, built-in grinder, and endless customization options make it a valuable addition to any coffee lover’s setup.

If you’re looking for a machine that’s innovative, versatile, and fun to use, the xBloom Studio is a worthy investment. It has truly elevated my coffee routine, delivering consistently delicious results with minimal effort.
