Clicks Keyboard Case

To give the Clicks Keyboard a fair evaluation, I used it with my iPhone 15 Pro Max for over two weeks. While there were moments when I opted to remove the case for specific tasks, I’ll dive into that later. This review will cover three main aspects: the hardware, the software (including some handy shortcuts), and my overall experience.

Clicks Hardware

First off, the case is impressively well-built. The Clicks team faced the challenge of creating a premium product while keeping it lightweight. They understood that using heavier materials would be a dealbreaker for many customers, especially given the combined weight of the iPhone and the case. By utilizing soft plastics and silicone, they achieved a design that is both protective and flexible, allowing for easy removal and reattachment throughout the day.

A notable point is that the case draws power from the iPhone itself, meaning there’s no internal battery to add extra weight. As a result, the case feels surprisingly lightweight, especially for one designed for the larger iPhone 15 Pro Max. Here are some quick specs:

  • Weight: 65g (62g for the iPhone 15 model)
  • Charging: USB-C with fast charging power passthrough
  • Keyboard Layout: QWERTY
  • Color Options: London Sky, BumbleBee, Miami Beach, Royal Ink (I have the London Sky variant)

When you first open the package, a QR code directs you to a helpful getting-started guide. This guide walks you through inserting your iPhone into the case and explains how to use the keyboard. One great feature is the ability to use native shortcuts, like CMD+H to go home or CMD+Space to open Spotlight search. Below, I’ve included a list of the provided shortcuts, which really streamlined my navigation and learning process.

The Keyboard

Clicks opted for a keyboard layout that mimics the iPhone’s virtual keyboard, which I think was a smart choice. It feels familiar to iPhone users, with keys placed exactly where you’d expect them to be, from Caps Lock to the backspace button. The adjustment is just about training your fingers to adapt to the tactile keyboard again.

Using it took me back to 2005 and my Blackberry days. The keys are round and provide satisfying feedback—just enough resistance to avoid accidental presses while still feeling satisfying to press down.

My Experience: The Good

Overall, I’m really impressed with this product. It took me about three or four days of dedicated use to become proficient with the keyboard. While I still type faster on my iPhone’s virtual keyboard, there’s something incredibly satisfying about physically pressing down keys. I’ve enjoyed using it for iMessage, the Notes app, and even for both short and long emails.

One of my favorite features is using the Space bar to scroll through websites without having to touch the screen, which adds a nice level of convenience.

One of the biggest advantages of using the Clicks case is that it frees up the entire iPhone display. The virtual keyboard typically takes up almost half of the screen, so now when I send messages, I can see more of the conversation at a glance. This is particularly useful when editing YouTube shorts, as it allows the content to take up the full screen. It’s surprising how much of the display is wasted by the virtual keyboard, and this is where I really see the value in using the Clicks Keyboard case.
